Ready for an evening with danceable grooves, atmospheric soul and positive vibes? Then join us at Reggae Night Grounds on Saturday 24 February! For the third time, Reggae Lovers Rotterdam and Grounds Rotterdam present the best of the reggae world, including a live show by Mo Ali, Papemannn and Heights Meditation.

Mo Ali

Mo Ali is giving new life to reggae music in Sudan, Europe and the Middle East with his own and refreshing sound. As a founding member of Sudan Roots and Mohamed Ali and The Nile Riddim, he first made a name for himself in the reggae world, and since 2015 he has been touring Europe with the Bob Marley Tribute Band Rootsriders.

Under his own label DMF Records, he released his first EP Alhamdo Lilah in 2020. Two years later, he scored a big hit with My Love, and last year he collaborated with BMT Project and the Grammy Award-winning Aston Barett Jr., a member of the famous Wailers, on the song Dance With Me. And now he is all set to make Grounds dance!

Papemannn

Reggae is in Papemannn’s blood. He started drumming and singing in Suriname at the age of seven. And since he moved to the Netherlands, he continues to broaden his musical horizons. First in collaboration with NuClear Family, Poor Man Friend and L4, but now with his own band. His Tribute to Buju Banton and own mix bring the positive energy to Reggae Night Grounds!

Heights Meditation

The Amsterdam-based reggae band Heights Meditation, with its blistering mix of their own work and classics, spiced with the necessary reggae, dub, ska, hip hop and Surinamese influences, quickly became one of the most successful underground reggae bands in the Benelux. After passages at festivals like Zwarte Cross, Reggae Lake, Kwaku Summer Festival and in venues like Ahoy and Tivoli, this time they take our Reggae Night to higher grounds.

DJ Robbie Roots

DJ Robbie Roots, known from Stanvaste Radio and the Sticky Sound Crew, bought his first Bob Marley LP in 1982 and instantly fell in love. In 1985, as a 15-year-old, he joined a radio station where he played Roots Reggae and where he got his nickname Robbie Roots. After a stint at the regional broadcaster in Rotterdam, he has now been working at Stanvaste Radio for 19 years, where he hosts the weekly show “Roots op je Radio”. At Reggae Night Grounds, he will present us the best reggae tracks, so get on your dancing shoes!
