Fulu Miziki is shaking up the music scene with their wild, Afrofuturism-inspired sound – all created with self-made instruments made from trash. Rooted in the bustling Kinshasa, they blend punk, electronic sounds, and industrial soukous into an unmistakable sound that immediately grabs you.
The name Fulu Miziki roughly translates as ‘music from rubbish’ and perfectly captures the band’s creative madness: anything can be recycled, and every found object has the potential to be given a new lease of life. So the band crafts its instruments from recycled materials and appears on stage hidden behind homemade masks and costumes. Their music isn’t just sound; it’s a statement: a future where humanity and nature live in harmony, where art brings freedom and peace.
Since 2020, Fulu Miziki has been conquering European stages, performing at festivals and leading workshops with young people, inspiring them with the transformative power of music and recycling. Their debut EP Ngbaka (2022) was an instant hit, pulling listeners in with its mix of traditional rumba and modern electronic sounds. And the firey follow-up Mokane (2024) further cemented their popularity. So get ready for a crazy party at GROUNDS.
