Biita is the new project from singer-songwriter Lisa Houdei, formerly known as LéPonds. This experimental folk singer-songwriter from Woodstock, NY, blends her Persian heritage with her American experience. During this exclusive show in Netherlands at Lab Grounds, she will be presenting her newest work This Bed Was Made For Me, a deeply textured, emotionally resonant album.
Growing up in a bi-cultural Persian household, music and song found Biita early on. At this young age, she chose guitar as her instrument and learned to play in her own, intuitive way– now possessing a style completely her own. Biita’s songs are emotional, take unexpected turns, are intense and suspenseful, dreamy and heart-warming. So fans of artists like Haley Heynderickx, Jessica Pratt, Fleet Foxes or Grizzly Bear will definitely love her.
Under her former name, she has already released three albums. But as Biita, she now returns with her most powerful work to date. It’s rooted in tradition, but never bound by it – a fearless body of work that threads joy and grief, ritual and rupture, into something wholly original.
