For a very brief moment, Pink Oculus, the alter ego of Esperanza Denswil, seemed to have ‘disappeared off the radar’. But no worries: she’s back! And on November 19, she’ll give away a fantastic show in Grounds.

In 2016, Pink Oculus came out like a comet with the EP Delicious, which landed her at some of the finest festivals, including Glastonbury and North Sea Jazz. Due to a darkness in her life, she left just as quickly. With her avant-garde, hip-hop-based music with African and Surinamese rhythms, she now takes us on her completed journey to a new, happier existence. With her shows she proves that she is an artist who has a complete mastery of Bowie’s sound and vision. This is more than just music. It is a total experience.

With two live shows Pink Oculus demonstrates its power on stage

Call it artistic hip-hop, call it experimental music with beats, call it whatever you want. It’s different. The upcoming album is particularly cleverly put together. The order of the songs all sound so logical. Everything fits together seamlessly. How beautifully it has been pieced together. A lot of work was audibly put into that. Just like the old masterpieces like Marvin Gaye’s What’s Going On, it almost forces you to listen to this work of art as a whole. Of course, you can also listen to the songs separately. “But for the people who have already heard the first two singles Water and Away, it’s nice to now discover that there is a certain storyline behind them,” she notes.
