On Thursday 16 April, Maryana Golovchenko will bring the magic of Ukrainian female singing to the Pilgrim Fathers Church in Rotterdam. This versatile Kyiv-born singer connects the East and West, past and present in her music. Accompanied by cellist Pau Sola Masafrets, she performs a spring-themed repertoire full of energy, hope and vitality.

Born in Kyiv, Maryana Golovchenko has lived in the Netherlands since 2011. She interweaves centuries-old Ukrainian sounds with contemporary styles and music from around the world. Her work exudes curiosity, craftsmanship and a deep connection to the musical heritage of her native country. With her warm, expressive voice and natural charisma, she knows how to touch every audience.

The songs that Maryana will perform on 16 April are deeply rooted in Ukrainian tradition and connected to spring. They symbolise new beginnings, hope and solidarity, radiating strength and positive energy.

Maryana wiill be accompanied by Pau Sola Masafrets (Spain/Netherlands), a cellist, composer and improviser with a unique style. Pau’s musical background ranges from classical and jazz to South Indian music. This rich diversity is reflected in his groundbreaking compositions and improvisations, in which refinement and adventure go hand in hand.

The event is organised in cooperation with Oekraïens Huis Rotterdam and Stichting VATA.
