Rootz Lions ft. Royalee

With roots in Suriname, Cape Verde and Aruba, the Rotterdam-based Rootz Lions are a reggae band with international allure. After numerous special collaborations, a multitude of unique projects and a great list of performances at Nacht van de Kaap and North Sea, among others, they are now ready to set Plein Public on fire with their progressive reggae.

To do so, they are bringing along a very special guest this time: the fabulous Royalee! Originally from the hip-hop scene, he immediately fell madly in love with reggae music while living in Barbados. Besides his own music, he will also sing covers from the fine array of roots reggae and dancehall gems. If you close your eyes, you might think you hear Collie Buddz and Gentlemen.

Gabriela Pimentel Quartet

Red-haired singer Gabriela Pimentel released her first album ‘Brasileira’ in summer 2024. With this self-produced work, she releases her own compositions and turns the spotlight on her country of origin, Brazil. On the one hand, she does so with typical Brazilian rhythms such as samba, capoeira and baião. But on the other, she also takes an intimate direction with a romantic ballad and a lullaby she made for her son, who was born in Rotterdam.

From a very young age, Gabriela came into contact with music. Her father who is a percussionist founded Kriya Família in the early 2000s, a real family band that further consists of his wife and their seven children. Gabriela is always looking for new angles and this time she does so together with some women from different corners of the world. After a duet with pianist Jota Papadopoulou last year, she and two other female musicians from Rotterdam now form a quartet formation. Together they bring a fun mix of grooves, a nice atmosphere and powerful lyrics.

DJ Caliente

DJ Caliente will spice up the evening with the hottest dance tracks. Sultry samba tunes, heavy reggae drops or groovy Sahara beats? You name it and he spins it: DJ Caliente keeps the world music going strong!
